Ludhiana Police Conducts Major Coordinated Crackdown on Organized Crime

Ludhiana, 20 January (Rajkumar Sathi). In its sustained and decisive campaign against organized crime, Ludhiana Police carried out a well-planned, large-scale early morning operation aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks operating in and around the city. The operation was meticulously coordinated and executed to disrupt criminal ecosystems, ensure public safety, and reinforce peace and stability across the state. As part of the operation, over 100 police teams drawn from the entire Ludhiana Commissionerate conducted simultaneous and targeted raids on 255 identified gangsters, their associates, and individuals suspected of providing them shelter and logistical support. The action was intelligence-driven and focused on breaking the operational backbone of organized crime syndicates. The Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Swapan Sharma, IPS, informed that the coordinated raids resulted in the rounding up of more than 233 hard-core criminals, their associates, and relatives. Of these, over 118 accused were arrested, while others were subjected to sustained interrogation and verification of their activities.

Significant recoveries were made during the operation, including:

* 13 pistols
* 430 intoxicant tablets
* 144 grams of heroin
* 96 bottles of liquor

Additionally, several proclaimed offenders were apprehended during the raids. The Commissioner of Police stated that this operation was conducted as part of the ongoing statewide campaign against organized crime, in strict compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, and the Director General of Police, Punjab, Shri Gaurav Yadav, IPS. Swapan Sharma, IPS, reiterated that the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police remains resolute in its mission to eliminate crime from the city and to provide residents with a safe, secure, and fear-free environment. Such coordinated and intelligence-led operations will continue in the future to ensure that criminal elements find no refuge within the jurisdiction.
