Ludhiana, June 7 (Rajkumar Sathi). The Cycling Association of Ludhiana District (CALD), under the guidance of the Cycling Association of Punjab (CAP), in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, Ludhiana, and the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), with the support of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, successfully organized a grand cycling event to celebrate World Bicycle Day 2026 at the PAU campus.
The event was organized with the kind support, guidance, and administrative permission of Sh. Himanshu Jain (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, and Dr. Rishi Pal Singh (IAS), Registrar, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, whose encouragement and cooperation played a significant role in the successful conduct of the programme.
More than 500 participants enthusiastically joined the event, promoting fitness, environmental sustainability, road safety, and a drug-free society. The event was organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries and sports personalities.

The event commenced with an address highlighting the importance of cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation and an effective means of improving physical and mental well-being. The cycling rally carried inspiring messages such as “Ride Green – Live Clean,” “Nasha Mukt Punjab,” “Petrol Bachao, Cycle Chalao,” and “Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz.”
Participants completed a 10-kilometre cycling ride across the scenic PAU campus, demonstrating their commitment towards a healthier lifestyle, environmental conservation, and social responsibility. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from cyclists of all age groups.


Adding colour and excitement to the celebrations, energetic Bhangra and Zumba sessions (by Aman Mann, Coach) were organized, encouraging community engagement and spreading awareness about fitness through fun and recreational activities.

The event saw participation from athletes, coaches, and staff of SAI STC Ludhiana, members of CALD, various cycling clubs, representatives from ITBP and NDRF units, students, sports enthusiasts, and members of the general public.
The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to Sh. Himanshu Jain (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, and Dr. Rishi Pal Singh (IAS), Registrar, PAU Ludhiana, for their valuable support, guidance, and permission which made the successful organization of this large-scale public event possible.
As a gesture of appreciation and recognition, trophies were presented to all distinguished guests, government representatives, organizers, coordinators, and supporting officials for their valuable contribution to the successful conduct of the event. All participants were also awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and commitment to promoting cycling, fitness, and environmental awareness. The felicitation ceremony was warmly received and served as an encouragement for greater public participation in future sporting and community initiatives.
The event concluded with refreshments and a vote of thanks to all participants, dignitaries, volunteers, sponsors, and supporting organizations for making the celebration a grand success. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable, healthy, and eco-friendly mode of transportation and fitness activity, while continuing to support the vision of a Fit, Green, and Drug-Free Punjab.
