Open dumping of garbage: MC Chief takes strict stance, directs health branch officials to take action against violators, ensure cleanliness or face action themselves

Ludhiana, November 3 (RajkumarSathi). Taking a strict stance against open dumping of garbage and burning of garbage in the city, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal directed the health branch officials to take stern action against those dumping garbage in the open or burning the waste and ensure cleanliness in the city. The officials were directed to intensify drive against the violators and issue hefty challans, if anyone is caught dumping waste in open or burning the garbage. Further, Dachalwal issued a warning to the health branch officials that strict departmental action would also be taken against them, if they failed to ensure cleanliness at ground level. The directions were issued during a meeting held at MC Zone D office on Monday evening. Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar, MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, Joint Commissioners Vineet Kumar and Abhishek Sharma, Assistant Commissioners Neeraj Jain, Gurpal Singh and Jasdev Sekhon, CSO Ashwani Sahota, Health Officer Vipal Malhotra, Chief Sanitary Inspectors (CSI) and Sanitary Inspectors (SI) were present in the meeting. MC Commissioner Dachalwal stated that the civic body has been regularly appealing to the residents to stop dumping waste in the open. Strict action would be taken against those dumping waste in the open. Dachalwal further directed the officials to move to the field on a regular basis and ensure cleanliness in their respective areas. Dachalwal further stated that he will also be conducting surprise inspections in the coming days. Apart from taking action against the violators, the civic body will also take action against the officials who failed to perform their duty at the ground level. A few employees have also been suspended in the past as they failed to ensure cleanliness in their respective areas. At last, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal appealed to the residents to support the civic body in keeping the city clean by not dumping waste at open spaces/plots.
