
Orders have been issued for continuous desilting of Buddha Dariya and other internal drains of city too, Officials directed to submit certificates at earliest that no road gullies/manhole covers are missing or broken in their respective areas

Reviewing monsoon preparedness and ensuring all required steps are taken in advance, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar has ordered intensification of sewer desilting and road repair works across the city. Further strict orders have been issued to ensure continuous desilting of Buddha Dariya, internal drains and sewer lines across the city. The officials have also been directed to ensure strengthening of Buddha Dariya embankments. The orders were issued during a comprehensive review meeting held at MC Zone D in Sarabha Nagar on Wednesday. The officials have been directed to ensure generator sets at all the disposal points in the city too, so that there should be no hindrance in pumping out the water during the rainy season. Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Joint Commissioner Amanpreet Singh, Joint Commissioner Tapan Bhanot, Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain, Zonal Commissioner Gurpal Singh, Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Sekhon among other officials of O&M cell, B&R branch, health branch etc were present in the meeting. MC Commissioner Alankar directed the concerned officials to submit certificates at the earliest that no road gullies or manhole covers are broken or missing across the city. For ensuring potable water supply to the residents, the officials have been directed to ensure proper chlorination. Similarly, health branch officials have been directed to ensure regular lifting of garbage and fogging in the city. The concerned officials have also been directed to arrange required number of sand bags which can be used in case of any emergency during rainy season. MC Commissioner Alankar stated that all the branches of civic body have been directed to work in coordination with each other. Strict orders have been issued to the staff that no laxity would be tolerated in the context of monsoon preparedness. The senior officials including the Zonal Commissioners have been directed to move to their respective areas on a daily basis and ensure that all required steps are being taken in advance. MC Commissioner Alankar stated that he has also been conducting field inspections to take stock of the situation and feedback is also being taken from the residents.
