
Ludhiana, July 2 (Rajkumar Sathi). After heavy rainfall hit city during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar conducted field inspections to take stock of the situation on Thursday morning. Inspection was conducted at different areas including Bhai Bala chowk, Saggu chowk, Ferozepur road among other areas. Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Sekhon, Health Officer Dr Vipal Malhotra among other officials were present during inspection. Alankar stated that water accumulation was witnessed at a few sites as heavy rainfall had hit city, but it got drained out in a short period only as necessary steps have been taken by the civic body in advance. He said that teams have been deployed to monitor the situation day and night. Inspection was also conducted at road cave-in site near Saggu chowk and necessary directions were issued to expedite the repair works. MC Commissioner Alankar stated that working under ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ led by Local Bodies Minister Harjot Singh Bains, the civic body officials have been conducting regular field inspections to resolve the grievances at ground level. Necessary directions have already been given to the officials regading monsoon preparedness and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard, added MC Commissioner Alankar.
