Awareness Meeting on HPV Vaccination Organized at CHC Koom Kalan
Ludhiana, June 9 (Rajkumar Sathi). Under the able leadership and guidance of Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, a special awareness meeting on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was organized at Community Health Centre (CHC) Koom Kalan to further strengthen the ongoing campaign aimed at preventing cervical cancer. The meeting was chaired by District Immunization Officer Dr. Harpreet Singh, while Senior Medical Officer Dr. Rupinder Gill was present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Harpreet Singh stated that cervical cancer is one of the most common and serious cancers affecting women, and the primary cause of this disease is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). He explained that the HPV vaccine provides protection against this virus and significantly reduces the risk of developing cervical cancer in the future. He further informed that the Punjab Government is providing a free single dose of the HPV vaccine to girls aged 14–15 years, which is an important step toward ensuring their long-term health and well-being. He urged healthcare workers to create awareness among the public regarding the vaccine and help dispel any misconceptions associated with it. Senior Medical Officer Dr. Rupinder Gill highlighted that the HPV vaccine is completely safe, effective, and scientifically proven. He directed all attendees to educate parents about the benefits of the vaccine through community outreach and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive vaccination. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the importance of HPV vaccination, its safety, its role in preventing cervical cancer, and strategies to make the vaccination campaign more effective. The staff members present assured their full cooperation in making this public health initiative a success and reaching every eligible beneficiary.
