
Ludhiana, March 31 (Deepak Sathi). The Food Safety Team, Ludhiana, under the guidance of District Health Officer , carried out an extensive inspection drive across multiple establishments including fast food outlets, restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, dairies, and hospitals in various parts of the city. The drive covered key areas such as Dhandari, Model Town, Dugri, Jawadhi, and Sherpur Chowk, with the objective of ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.Sharing details, Dr. Ashish Chawla informed that during the inspections, the team collected a total of 21 food samples from different establishments. The samples included commonly consumed food items and ingredients such as shakkar, pista (pistachio), used cooking oil, dal makhani, paneer, and gur. In addition, samples of used cooking oil, mango sundae, paneer, and banta bottle drink were also collected from selected outlets. The team further lifted samples of prepared dal, atta, prepared sabzi, black chana, maida, gujia, and dhodha, covering a wide range of raw materials as well as ready-to-eat food products. Dr. Chawla emphasized that the sampling was carried out as part of routine surveillance as well as targeted inspections, particularly focusing on high-consumption items and those prone to adulteration or quality deterioration. He stated that all the samples have been properly sealed and sent to an accredited laboratory for detailed analysis. Reiterating the importance of adherence to regulatory norms, Dr. Ashish Chawla highlighted that all food business operators are required to strictly comply with the standards and guidelines laid down by the . He noted that special attention is being paid to the quality of cooking oil, proper storage conditions, and hygiene practices during food preparation and handling.He further added that strict action will be taken against any violators based on the laboratory reports, in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act. The Food Safety Department remains committed to safeguarding public health and will continue to conduct such inspection and sampling drives on a regular basis.
