Ludhiana, January 17 (Rajkumar Sathi). A major professional conference and exhibition was successfully organized at Intex Expo 2026, Press Road, with an approximate footfall of over 2,500 participants. The event was jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) – Punjab Chapter and the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI). Shri Sanjeev Arora Ji, Hon’ble Minister for Local Government, Power, and Punjab Investment Promotion, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Neeru Katyal, Director, Town & Country Planning, Punjab, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The conference witnessed the presence of senior town planners, district town planners, architects, and professionals from across the state. Two exhibitions titled “Pachan” and “Amanat” were also held alongside the conference, showcasing more than 250 high-quality entries, which were highly appreciated by all attendees. During the event, the Hon’ble Minister announced cash awards of ₹50,000, ₹30,000, and ₹20,000 for the best exhibition entries, encouraging innovation and professional excellence. Addressing the gathering, Shri Sanjeev Arora emphasized the need for active support from architects for the effective implementation of the Self-Certification System for Building Plan Approvals.
In response, Architect Pal Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman, IIA Punjab Chapter and Director, Ludhiana Smart City, assured full cooperation and support from the architectural fraternity for this important government initiative. Further, the IIA Punjab Chapter requested that architects’ representatives be included in advisory committees related to town planning and Ishpal Committees. The Hon’ble Minister accepted this request and asked for a formal application to initiate the process. The event was also attended by eminent professionals including Shri Pankaj Bawa, Chief Town Planner (ITPI); Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Chief Town Planner; Mr. Gautam Kumar, Senior Town Planner; Mr. Rajan Tanri Architect Dinesh Bhagat; Architect Balbir Bagga; Architect Arjun Deep, and many other senior officials and professionals.
