Mayor issues strict directions to stop illegal constructions; building inspectors, ATPs to be held responsible

Ludhiana, July 15 (Rajkumar Sathi). With an aim to crack whip around illegal constructions, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur directed the building branch officials to keep strict vigil and ensure strict action against illegal constructions. Mayor Inderjit Kaur conducted a meeting with the building branch officials at MC Zone D office on Tuesday. MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, MTP Vijay Kumar, Superintendent Rajeev Saggar, zonal ATPs, building inspectors and peons (sewadar) of all four zones of the civic body were present in the meeting. The building branch officials have also been directed to take stern action against illegal colonies as construction of illegal colonies put additional burden on the existing infrastructure of the civic body too. Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur said that the Assistant Town Planners (ATP) and building inspectors should keep strict vigil and they would be held responsible for illegal constructions in their respective areas. The officials have also been directed to submit a record regarding the government properties situated across the city. The officials have been directed to expedite the recovery of dues from the residents too. For facilitating the residents, Mayor Inderjit Kaur directed that the building plans submitted by residents through architects should also be approved at the earliest. If there are any objections over the building plans, those should be marked in a single go and the residents should not be forced to make rounds of the offices. Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur stated that weekly review meetings would now be held to streamline the working of the building branch and to ensure strict action against illegal constructions.
